The short version. Sound of Roots is a free research guide, not professional advice — verify anything price- or enrollment-related directly with the academy before you pay. Our writing, comparisons and methodology are ours; the underlying facts are everybody’s. We link to sites we don’t control and aren’t responsible for them. There are no accounts, no payments and nothing to sign up for on this site.

What this site is

“Sound of Roots” is a publication of Sound Roots Global LLC (“we,” “us”). Sound of Roots publishes independent research and opinion for NRI families about Indian classical music education — comparisons of named academies and platforms, a “Find Your Path” quiz that suggests a starting point, and related guides. It is not professional, educational, financial or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation tailored to your child’s specific situation. It is one parent’s research, organized for other parents.

Details like prices, curricula, exam boards, schedules and policies belong to the academies and platforms themselves, and they change. Everything on this site is accurate, to the best of our knowledge, as of the date shown on that page — not necessarily today. Before you enroll or pay anyone, verify the current details directly with that academy or platform.

No warranty

This site is provided “as is,” free of charge, and we make no promises that it is complete, accurate, or current, or that it will be available without interruption or error. We’re a small, independent, unpaid research project — not a service you’re paying for — and we ask you to treat what you read here as a well-researched starting point, not a guarantee.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Sound of Roots, Sound Roots Global LLC, and their members, officers and contributors are not liable for losses arising from your use of this site or decisions made based on it — including enrollment, spending, or scheduling decisions made using our comparisons or quiz result. This is a free informational site with no accounts and no transactions; we are not in a position to guarantee outcomes, and this clause is meant to reflect that. Nothing here limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Our content, and your use of it

The comparison tables, the “Find Your Path” methodology, the written guides and the analysis on this site are original work of Sound Roots Global LLC. You’re welcome to read it, quote short excerpts with attribution and a link back, and share a link to any page. Please don’t republish our tables, write-ups or methodology wholesale as a substitute for the site itself.

To be precise about what that covers: we don’t claim ownership of the underlying facts — an academy’s price, class schedule, or exam board is a fact, and facts aren’t anyone’s property. What’s ours is the way we’ve selected, organized, compared and written about those facts — the expression, not the underlying data. Because facts are free and it’s only our expression that isn’t, we don’t restrict automated access to the site any differently than human access — we just ask that it respect robots.txt.

Our comparisons are opinion

Where this site characterizes or compares named academies and platforms — describing one as stronger on a criterion, or better suited to a need — that’s the author’s opinion and editorial judgment, based on the sources cited on that page and current as of the date shown there. It isn’t a guarantee that the underlying facts won’t change, and reading it as opinion doesn’t make an underlying factual claim correct if it turns out to be wrong — if you believe one is, that’s exactly what “Corrections and removal requests” below is for.

Trademarks

Academy, platform and organization names, logos and marks mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners. We use them to identify and discuss the businesses we’re writing about, not to claim any affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement — ours of them, or theirs of us — unless we say so explicitly.

Links to other sites

This site links to music academies, online platforms, exam bodies and other resources we don’t control. We’re not responsible for their content, their terms, their pricing, or how they treat you once you leave our site. A link here isn’t an endorsement of everything on the other end of it — it’s us pointing you somewhere relevant.

How we make money

Our commercial posture — what relationships we do and don’t have with the academies and platforms we write about, and how we’d disclose it if that ever changed — is set out in full in our Affiliate & Disclosure Policy, which is the canonical source on this topic. We commit to following that disclosure practice, whatever our commercial arrangements are at a given time; check that page for the current, present-tense statement rather than relying on this one.

Children

This site is written for parents, not children, and it’s not directed at them. The “Find Your Path” quiz may ask about a child’s age to tailor its suggestion. For exactly what the quiz does and doesn’t send us, see our Privacy notice.

Corrections and removal requests

If you run or represent an academy, platform or organization named on this site and something is out of date, inaccurate, or you’d like it reviewed or removed, tell us: contact@soundrootsglobal.com. Include the page, the specific claim, and what you believe the correct information is (with a source where possible). We review every request and aim to respond within a reasonable time; we may ask a follow-up question before we change anything, and we’ll correct genuine errors.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The version date at the top of this page reflects the last update. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.

Who this site is for

Sound of Roots is written for a general audience but intended for readers in the United States; if you’re visiting from elsewhere, local rules we haven’t addressed here may apply. Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory consumer protection you’re entitled to under the law of where you live.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Washington.

If part of this doesn’t hold

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and the unenforceable part will be read narrowly to accomplish its intent as closely as the law allows.
